On March 20th,the roof sealing of the main tower in the north bank of Shishou Yangtze River Bridge was finished with great success for one time.

The main tower’sroof sealing marks the staged significant progress of Shishou Yangtze River Bridge construction, which lays a solid foundation to the official opening of the whole bridge in 2019.

The main tower roofed in the north bank is 232 meters high, equivalent to the height of an 80-floor building, while the main tower pile foundation consists of 58 piles with a length of 119 meters and a diameter of 2.5 meters. The concrete volume of the bearing platform is 18,171 cubic meters.

In the processing of construction, builders of the bridge have made all efforts toovercome the negative effects such as unfavorable geology and great flood discharge magnitude as much as that in 1998. They have tackled technological difficulties including the construction of large bored cast-in-place pile with super-thick fine sand formation, the large-scale bottoming concrete in foundation construction, and anti-cracking measures of large-volume concrete. Through29-month hard work, they have completed the roof sealing of the main tower with great success.

So far, ShishouYangtze River Bridge has already finished an investment of RMB 5.4 billion,accounting for 72% of the whole project. After the successful roof sealing ofthe north main tower, the south main tower will see its roof sealing at theearly of April. The bridge will then enter into the construction stage of stayed-cable, and lifting steel box girder.
